Ganesh Chaturthi is a beautiful festival but it does play an important role in our fight against the British as well. It is believed that Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj started the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi and the tradition carried on for years, wherein celebration happened only in private.
The brave freedom fighter Bal Gangadgar Tilak known for his courage and strong will, turned Ganesh Chaturthi in a gathering where people could come together and unite in celebrations in public. It gave a reason for people to come together to perform puja and savour the delicacies together thereby fostering a bond of patriotism and culture. Events like these brought a spirit of oneness and gave people a reason to unite. A culture as rich as ours has flourished over the years and Ganesh Chaturthi holds a special place in the hearts of people.
